UNIMAS CNY Celebration

Last night (06/02/10, 1900), a couple of friends and I were attending the annual Chinese New Year Celebration in UNIMAS. It was held in Dewan Unimas. So, Patsy and I were taking bus to get there. Rush3..Plus before then, I've to be a make up artist for the CNY AJKs...And there were three of them...hee~ (I'm really sorry if I didn't do the makeover well..It's been a while since I did makeover for others).

Upon arrival..

It was a crazy day. Hundreds of students were filling all the spaces in Dewan Unimas and most of them were Chinese (Lorr~ Of course maa...It's CNY celebration..hee~). So, as we went into the hall, we took the very front row. Haha~ Berebut ni...childish ohw.. Well, who doesn't want a nicer view?

I'm gonna talk a bit about CNY and this year, it's a tiger year! Grrr~

Characteristics of The Tiger based on the Chinese Zodiac
(took it from somewhere...hee~)

The Tiger, the living symbol of strength and power, generally inspires fear and respect. Tigers' compelling dynamism, intense activity, independence and curiosity about others make them irresistible, persons of multiple charms; Tigers attract followers and admirers. The Tiger is courageous, active and self-assured, and makes an excellent leader and protector. However liberal-minded Tigers may be, they are passionate, rash, and resist the authority of others. Although they are selfish in the little things, they are capable of great generosity, even of altruism, in the larger. Tigers are men and women of action, thrust by destiny into the spotlight.

CNY is a great symbol of happiness and prosperity among the Chinese as it is a brand new year for them. So, I guess their culture is just so unique from my own view. Plus, here in UNIMAS, I got lots and lots of Chinese friends. (Even, my ex-roomy and my current roomy are Chinese! Coincidence huh?! Hee~)

Back to the CNY celebration in UNIMAS, I can say that I had a great time. There's many entertaining performances during the function. Ohw ya, I also like the emcee. I think his name is Sam. I really enjoyed the jokes and the "talks". Great job ohw! Two thumbs up!

There he is..The "Nescafe" guy..hee~

The performers mostly were outsiders and half of them were kids. So damn talented! But what I like the most was the musical performance. Gosh! It was really synchronized.

One of my favorite. I don't know the instrument. All I know is it is a string instrument and played with a tiny stick (hoho~ don't laugh..I only able to describe it). They played it in a fast motion but I can't find any mistakes in the sound. Quite impressive!

There's a lot more performances that we saw on that night. But, I think I will just show the pictures. Hee~ It's quite a long story for one night. So, just let the pictures do the talking!

Let's enjoy the moments...

The very first performance by a young lil' girl. Singing and dancing. She's a pop princess!

Some of the Chinese Dances. There's a lot of them but I just took my favorites.

Above: Dragon Dance
Below: Lion Dance
People, it's a must during CNY celebration! Hee~  But I like the Lion Dance better.

Singing performances. Above is our Biotech Senior, Kathleen, was performing her Chinese song. (Sabahan Dusun girl with no Chinese background, but still, she managed to do it)

Pop + Hip Hop Performances.

Chinese YoYo performance by the UNIMAS Medic Students.

Chinese 24 Solstices Drum Performance. Also one of my favorite. Hee~ Really enjoyed it.

That's all for the great moments last night. There's so much more but they are too much to include (plus, I'm out of words...Hee~). I'm really looking forward for the next celebration. Hope that next year will be better or the best (Hey, it's my last year in UNIMAS already! How I wish time would tick slower. Gaaaaa~ I already can feel the of heat of FYP).

~Till then, Daaaa.....~

Movies Night Out

Last Thursday, I got a message from a friend, inviting me and a couple of other friends to have a so called spooky-movie-night-out and we've decided to watch Haunted Universities. Sounds interesting huh? Hee~~

But for real, it wasn't that spooky enough to scare me off (talk big huh..but really! Ehe~). Based on the title, for sure we're gonna think that it was all about the university, then got haunted, students kill themselves, scary ghost...blah...blah...blah... But mostly, the story plot didn't show much about the 'haunted universities'. It was about 4 stories being compiled in one movies. (But I just don't get it why they have to titled it "Haunted Universities")

I was quite impressed on the first story. At least, ada la terkejut sikit. The first story was about a girl who became a ghost after she hanged herself in a ladies room and haunt the university. There were quite a lot of nerve-breaking moments on this scene as the ghost keep on popping on the screen. Hee~ Bikin terkejut bh.. But the other three stories, they were just hilarious. Lucu bh muka pelakon lelaki dia tu. Even all the audience can't stop laughing. Moral of the story, don't hire any funny looking actor or actress for horror movie. Hee~ It'll just spoil the mood.

So, there were ten of us having a night out.
~Ken, Mimi, Jo, Dwen, Ardi, Nana, Nad, Jihah, the other Mimi (a.k.a. Momo) and I~
Why does it have to be the ten of us? Actually, MBO only provide couple seats for the audience. So, we've got to be in an even number. (Ish...mau jugak guna couple seat for premiere...teda2..huhu)

But the night was great and entertaining. We're got to go out together and have lotza fun.
So, just enjoy the moments!

Before the movie rolls..

Couple of snaps before going back..

~Great time with all! Should do it again sometimes. Hee~

It's Been A While

Phewhh....It's been a while since I've updated my latest posts.

LOLz! It's my 1st post for the year 2010!!

No more January, here comes February.
But there's so many things in my life that went totally wrong. *sigh* I really feel that it's going to be a "no good" year for me (does it sound better than "bad"?). Well, at first I don't really believe in the Horoscopes and Feng Shui things. But then, I've read (accidentally or "suka-suka") this one article about Chinese Horoscope, mine is Dragon...hee~ and I found out that it really describes my past. Uuuu....scary!

And this is what it says (Well, just some of it):

Health

Whenever you are going on a business trip, be it driving or not, you need to be careful to avoid accidents from taking place. Female Dragon must remember to visit the doctor for physical examination and remember to take care of your elders at home. Pay extra attention on your kids as well although you are busy at work. Don’t visit sick people or attend the funeral if you are not feeling well.

    OHHMAAGOSHHH!!

The evidence caught in my real life:

    My Friend's car

So, this is exactly what happened to me n my FnF (Family n Friends) on the night of 25 December, 2009 during the house visiting. It was my first time to witness such an accident and it caused me self-trauma up until now. Damn that drunken driver! Thank God that we were fine, but unluckily for one of my friend, he injured his leg quite badly (but he's fine now...getting "healthier"...hee~). So, I guess it was a BLACK CHRISTMAS after all....=(

    The accident's victims

But it doesn't just end there yet. There's plenty of other things that really pissed me off throughout the year. *sigh*

    1. I got a bad result ever.....Na'ah, I think it's the worst!
    2. I broke my hp screen. Huwaa.... It cost me amounts of money for the repair.
    3. I took an elective course (interesting subject but there's something wrong bout the lecturer...hurmmm...) which really makes us - the students - to study (TnL) under pressure or depressed environment.
    4. So, what's next?
Yeah~ We're living in a cruel world but I've suffered enough pain.  I just hope that it will never be "the next one".
